High tea, please

I was shocked and appalled to find out that my very good friend Ruby Retro had never had high tea. A fellow vintage and retro lover who I met while lurking in my favourite vintage shop should surely take afternoon tea at least fortnightly. I put this right yesterday with a trip to Teapots of Olney in Buckinghamshire. It was also my first visit to this very traditional tearoom, in an old house on the High Street. Teapots has a distinctly 1930s and 1940s atmosphere, with art deco lamps and frames adorning the fireplace, and wartime posters lining the walls.

We enjoyed the Special Afternoon Tea for £12.75 a person, which included a surprise raspberry Eton mess after our sandwiches and cakes. A delightful, warm and friendly tearoom that I look forward to visiting again soon.
